Sainsbury’s Oxtail Soup

Published on May 27th, 2012

Pleasant, dark taste, akin to a gravy. Basically a mincemeat gravy, only a bit mean on the mincemeat. The soup is a little bland, could do with seasoning. Meat pieces are about the size of the bits of meat that get stuck in your teeth after a hearty meal. In other words, titchy. Certainly edible,… [Read More]

Sainsbury’s Chicken in White Sauce

Published on April 7th, 2012

Tasty sauce, actually worked really well in the pasta bake!Incredibly thick sauce, took ages to rinse the tin out afterwards! Plenty of chicken. I fried some onions and poured the tin in, then mixed with pasta and topped with cheese. Left the mixture to bake and brown in the oven. This worked surprisingly well and… [Read More]

Sainsbury’s Sweet and Sour Chicken

Published on April 7th, 2012

This is a lot more watery than the packaging suggests. I mean, this is seriously watery- it could be a soup! Sainsbury’s Special Fried Rice

Published on April 3rd, 2012

Sticky texture, rice is a little overcooked. The ham is grey and look very unappetising. Particularly unpleasant taste of perfume with some mouthfuls. Unable to decipher the ingredient, but it completely spoils the dish. Would not have this again.

Sainsbury’s Mild Beef Curry

Published on March 21st, 2012

The “mild” part of the title is a little misleading. Though this isn’t a vindaloo by any means, it still packs a small punch, which might be too much for the more sensitive curry-eater. Reasonable quantity of beef. Pleasantly soft texture – much preferable to being too tough. The curry itself is a little disappointing,… [Read More]

Sainsbury’s Macaroni Cheese

Published on March 19th, 2012

Not the most appetising looking. Not cheesy in the slightest. A very floury taste. Bland, uninteresting. Very thick sauce but no taste to back it up! It doesn’t taste *horrible*, but it’s not TASTY. A major disappointment. Overpriced.

Sainsbury’s Liver and Bacon with Mash

Published on March 12th, 2012

UPDATE: eight years on, as of April 2020, this is still delicious and worthy of five stars. The packaging has had a tweak, but not much else has changed – including the RRP, which is only £2. It’s a very rare thing to sit down to a microwave meal, close your eyes, and imagine you’re eating… [Read More]
