Lidl Deluxe Moussaka

20 mins cooking with film, followed by 10 mins without.

The meat is oddly citrusy and bland, in a forgettable sauce under an overlay potato-y layer (moussaka shouldn’t have potato at all IMO) and a congealed egg layer that never quite mustered the enthusiasm to brown.

I counted three slices of aubergine (or eggplant – hello, American readers!) and one was chewy and tough as it was the end piece.

This is a generous portion for one (I had to double-check the packaging; yes, it is intended for one person) and tastes ok, but doesn’t live up to its ‘luxury’ accolade.
