I couldn’t help licking my fingers after opening the sachet of “heavenly broth paste”, confidently named by the people at itsu. It tasted promising- a strong Thai lemongrass with a chilli kick. Unfortunately, I followed the instructions to the letter, adding boiling water to the suggested fill level. The result is a watery, bland mess…. [Read More]

The mince has liquidated into the sauce, giving the sauce a vaguely brown colour. As ever, the spaghetti is soft. Tasty, filling.
A bit sour. Nice, quick, easy curry, but it’s not a good one. Would be very disappointed in a restaurant. Ultimately a bit flavourless. Still, it’s better than no korma at all, and it’s only £1. I’d have it again, but I’m not blown away.
I found this pineapple to be surprisingly sour. That’s where it loses most of its marks, I’m afraid. Additionally, the pineapple rings themselves are pretty thin. And at 60% pineapple, 40% pineapple juice, I feel a little bit hard done by.
Tasty korma sauce. Would it pass in a restaurant? Just about. Nice and easy instructions. Doesn’t look the most appetising of kormas- it gets a bit “bitty” and appears to curdle a little. Does enough for two meals. This works out at roughly £1 per meal.
A bit too soft and sticky. Sweet flavour, nice little bite of chilli. Just about passes as a meal on its own, but works best as a side dish.
These are a taste from my childhood, so perhaps I’m a little biased. These aren’t high quality meatballs by any stretch of the imagination: they have an odd, rubbery texture. They don’t taste particularly meaty. They don’t resemble anything on earth. But damn it, the sauce is a well balanced blend of tomato and sweetness,… [Read More]
Very watery, more like a gravy consistency. Tastes too meaty- where’s the tomato?! Very rich- I should not have added cheese!
I was very pleasantly surprised with this. I expected to be paying through the nose for the big brand name with no discernible difference in quality to justify it. I was wrong. Unlike practically every tinned sausage I’ve eaten, these actually taste authentic. They’re a decent size, have a healthy wrinkle on them (unlike the… [Read More]
Very oily. Looks very unappetising- one big splodgy mess. Made some very scary noises in the microwave. Admittedly, the little cubes of unidentifiable meat are quite pleasant. But the rest of it has a peculiar taste- as if the plastic packaging has burned and the fumes have been infused into the pasta. Not a tasty… [Read More]
