£1.40 from Tesco at time of writing. A tin (as opposed to plastic pot) of exactly the same stuff would be less than a pound. It’s certainly easier/tidier than a tin – 1m45s in the microwave, stirring halfway, and no pan to wash up. All of the packaging parts are recyclable too. But the soup… [Read More]
Heinz reviews
2 servings. Microwavable. Ring pull lid. Nice and easy. Bit of an odd cheese sauce – slightly unpleasant aftertaste. Still, I ate it all. Can’t have been that bad. And it went down very quickly despite it being two servings!
Seriously impressive that this is under 300 calories. Portion size looks about the same as any microwave meal and it looks pretty tasty! The root vegetable mash is pretty good and the sausages have a nice processed texture to them, and the ingredients look good. But man alive, this gravy is watery and flavourless. Such… [Read More]
As you can see, this became a watery mess. That would be ok if it was an indulgent wateriness, but it really wasn’t. I’ve tasted more cheese at a vegan’s banquet. I’m sure a dirtier metaphor exists if you want to spice up the review. Speaking of spice, the odd mushed up chicken filling has a… [Read More]
A surprisingly cheesy sauce, given this is Weight Watchers. Quite nice. Not much of a mushroom flavour, and the potato wedges are a bit dry. Not bad for £1-£1.50, don’t pay anything more.
I was very pleasantly surprised with this. I expected to be paying through the nose for the big brand name with no discernible difference in quality to justify it. I was wrong. Unlike practically every tinned sausage I’ve eaten, these actually taste authentic. They’re a decent size, have a healthy wrinkle on them (unlike the… [Read More]
The most complicated microwave instructions ever! Bigger pudding than expected, always a nice surprise. The texture is surprisingly light, a bit powdery, and sticks to the teeth. Nice chocolate sauce. Really this serves two, and that’s coming from a pudding-loving 20 year old male. Not a fabulous pudding, and fairly overpriced.
The cheese and the broccoli come through very strongly. Finally, a soup that doesn’t taste like every other cup-a-soup! Not overly blended- nice little bits of potato and onion here and there. Tasty, nutricious. Beware this is stilton cheese, and tastes like it. Don’t expect cheddar! Lovely, powerful, mature cheese, which isn’t too strong for… [Read More]
Distinctly underwhelming portion size. Nice smell of pepperoni. Kind of like having just the pepperoni and tomato sauce of a pizza. Real pieces of pepperoni, but not many. Probably cost all of 30p to make. Feel a bit ripped off. Quite a spicy sauce, slight kick at the back of the throat after each mouthful…. [Read More]
Lovely idea, but the bowl the soup came in was making some very ominous noises in the microwave, and subsequently there was some leakage, so this wasn’t the easiest of ready meals to prepare. The bits of chicken are dry and dark brown, not very inspiring. The soup itself is passable, but has that generic… [Read More]
