When I think of sticky ribs, I picture 4th July in America with a Budweiser and a TBC So you can imagine my surprise when I tasted this and found it’s more like a Chinese takeaway. Which, come to think of it, is more of a British staple than American style sticky ribs. So I’m… [Read More]

Bastard hot (temperature wise). Somehow retains its heat for ages. Do not eat in a hurry. Strong Thai flavour. Not much chicken. Separate compartments keeps the rice really sticky – but may also serve as a disguise for smaller portions. I’m onto you, Tesco! Tasty, but I was still hungry afterwards.
Posh packaging – got a little cardboard flap to show you more info you’re unlikely to read. Slippy packaging too – it all slides out of the plastic and onto the plate like a satisfying non stick pan. Portion looks meagre when emptying out each individual compartment, but it goes a long way. Creamy like… [Read More]
Cooked for 2 mins as instructed, in a more powerful microwave than instructed (800W) and took a bite; it was still frozen in the middle. So I put it back in for another minute and a half. That meant it came out PIPING hot, and I struggled to eat it. I was almost the first… [Read More]
About 2 mins in the microwave. Difficult to get out of packaging without scaling fingers – whole pouch gets hot! Verdict? “Tastes like Christmas”. Specifically, cinammon, cloves. Also cumin. Nice flavour. Mild. Goes well with a main course.
A little bit of a faff – have to measure out water and milk and waste a saucepan (the washing up! 😫) Ends up being FREAKIN’ HOT, so watch your mouth. Tastes good, if a little al dente in texture.
Bland, and quite dry, owing to its virtuosity. The fact that it’s only 397 calories means you’re still quite hungry after. In its favour, the chicken has flavour and is quite succulent, and the dish is 1 of your 5 a day.
This dish has lots of salmon – big chunks of it. The salad itself is very sweet. But otherwise is nice and healthy, with plenty of lentils and chickpeas. It’s definitely not very big overall – more of a side dish than a main. Think this was just under £2, which for salmon is not… [Read More]
Disclaimer: I bought this in Sainsbury’s, not at Wasabi. Think it’s awesome that that’s even a thing. Battered chicken is not very reliable when it comes to microwave instructions – many manufacturers wuss out and force you to use the oven – but not here. Wasabi may have specified a long cooking time (6/7 mins… [Read More]
Unlike a Pot Noodle or a bang-and-zap microwave meal, this thing actually requires cookery. Think butter, water, and careful stirring, and all the washing up that goes with that. If I’m already cooking, I may as well go the extra mile – so I roasted a duck leg. Then I opened the only other tin I… [Read More]
