Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Mangalorean Chicken Curry

Published on November 18th, 2019 Sainsbury's Taste the Difference

Posh packaging – got a little cardboard flap to show you more info you’re unlikely to read. Slippy packaging too – it all slides out of the plastic and onto the plate like a satisfying non stick pan. Portion looks meagre when emptying out each individual compartment, but it goes a long way. Creamy like… [Read More]

Feasters Premium Double Sausage Breakfast Bap with Cheese & Tomato Ketchup

Published on October 5th, 2019

This is an artery clogging feast. Pleasant sausage flavour, a bit softer than the McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin and less meaty, but still good. They’re big too. Frankly it would have been fine with 1 sausage, not 2. Ketchup cuts through the fat nicely. Zero nutritional benefit, but quick, filling, tasty junk food.

Sainsbury’s be good to yourself chicken biryani

Published on September 28th, 2019 Sainsbury's be good to yourself

Bland, and quite dry, owing to its virtuosity. The fact that it’s only 397 calories means you’re still quite hungry after. In its favour, the chicken has flavour and is quite succulent, and the dish is 1 of your 5 a day.

Wasabi Chicken Kastu Curry

Published on September 7th, 2019

Disclaimer: I bought this in Sainsbury’s, not at Wasabi. Think it’s awesome that that’s even a thing. Battered chicken is not very reliable when it comes to microwave instructions – many manufacturers wuss out and force you to use the oven – but not here. Wasabi may have specified a long cooking time (6/7 mins… [Read More]

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Beef Hash

Published on August 31st, 2019 Sainsbury's Taste the Difference

Tasty, good chunks of beef, nice crunch on the potatoes, polenta makes the gravy nice and thick. Generous portion for one. Only has an oven cook option, and definitely not healthy, but good comfort food. A slow-cook, indulgent treat.

ASDA Vegetarian Mac ‘N’ Cheese Leeks

Published on July 6th, 2019

Bought this, reduced, and spontaneously, when I already had far too much in my shopping basket. Never go to ASDA when you’re hungry and you’ve just been paid. This would be a decent main course on its own, but I thought I’d have it as a side dish with my lasagne & salad. In a… [Read More]

Tesco Finest Cottage Pie

Published on June 22nd, 2019

I may be the only person in the world who had this with charred broccoli and ranch dressing. It was a winning combo though. I apologise for the particularly bad second picture, which may have been somewhat distorted by the beer or two I’d had beforehand. It tasted better than my photography would suggest. A… [Read More]

Sainsbury’s Spaghetti Meatballs

Published on June 15th, 2019

This didn’t look very appetising in my local supermarket – a splat of tomato on some rather fake looking meatballs, under a pile of spaghetti that will inevitably disintegrate on heating in the microwave. Still, I fancied something Italian, and I thought I’d review this for the benefit of you, my lovely dear reader. First… [Read More]

Rustlers Southern Fried Chicken Burger

Published on June 1st, 2019

I could have sworn I’d reviewed this already – I’ve reviewed a bunch of Rustlers burgers, and this feels like one I’d have picked quite early on! Alas, I haven’t reviewed it yet – the closest thing from Rustlers being the Rustlers Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Mayo (4/5 – delicious!), and away from Rustlers we have the Feasters… [Read More]

Kingston Town Jerk Chicken with Rice & Peas

Published on May 11th, 2019

Two whole chicken thighs – that’s impressive for a ready meal! The rice is very saucey, but it’s not overly tomatoey. It actually stops the meal from being too dry. Kinda salty, but tastes great. A bit pricey but good quality.£3.80 RRP. Around the £3.20 mark would be better.
