The most complicated microwave instructions ever! Bigger pudding than expected, always a nice surprise. The texture is surprisingly light, a bit powdery, and sticks to the teeth. Nice chocolate sauce. Really this serves two, and that’s coming from a pudding-loving 20 year old male. Not a fabulous pudding, and fairly overpriced.
Food cupboard reviews
The first mouthful was underwhelming, but this was one of those meals that grew better with time. I didn’t trust a tin that lists “chicken fat” as one of its ingredients, but the end result is quite a rich and tasty sauce! As you can see from the picture, this is a big portion size,… [Read More]
Flavourless, filling food. This gives chicken tikka a bad name- the tiniest bits of chicken, with a hot, spicy kick. The lasagne itself is ok- fairly rich and creamy. The chicken tikka combination isn’t unpleasant, or even weird, just underwhelming. Still, not bad for £1.
The pieces of meat are succulent and tasty. The first mouthful has a bit of a kick and you begin to worry about the rest of the meal. You ease into eating more and find that, though it’s spicy it’s perfectly fine. You get about a third of the way through and it becomes increasingly… [Read More]
Not appetising looking. Distinct dog-food smell. Thick, soft pastry- no crust, and not much filling. Not an unpleasant taste. Relatively painless microwave instructions, though a little messy and ambigious. Difficult to know where this fits in- it isn’t really suitable as a snack, but even with chips this wouldn’t go far as a main meal.
Not perfect EVERY time, contrary to the packaging… Rice is slightly overcooked and gloopy. Cannot taste any chicken. This is just gloopy rice with sweetcorn. Not unpleasant, this would complement some chicken fillet and steamed broccoli quite nicely. On its own, it’s nothing special.
Tasty, nice Thai flavours, goes well with Sainsbury’s own Thai Rice. 40 seconds only makes it lukewarm, so ignore the microwave instructions and pop it in for a bit longer. Overpriced for the amount you get, so loses marks there.
Unlike the Ainsley Harriot cous cous I’m used to, this requires a lot of faffing about- not simply a case of adding water and waiting! I had to heat oil in a pan, stir fry the cous cous for a minute, add water, cover it, remove from the heat, leave to stand for 5 minutes,… [Read More]
The cheese and the broccoli come through very strongly. Finally, a soup that doesn’t taste like every other cup-a-soup! Not overly blended- nice little bits of potato and onion here and there. Tasty, nutricious. Beware this is stilton cheese, and tastes like it. Don’t expect cheddar! Lovely, powerful, mature cheese, which isn’t too strong for… [Read More]
Distinctly underwhelming portion size. Nice smell of pepperoni. Kind of like having just the pepperoni and tomato sauce of a pizza. Real pieces of pepperoni, but not many. Probably cost all of 30p to make. Feel a bit ripped off. Quite a spicy sauce, slight kick at the back of the throat after each mouthful…. [Read More]
