Iceland Chicken Dopiaza

Published on July 14th, 2013

Tasty, more tomato-ful than appears on the front cover. Ate with two mini peshwari nans- good combination. Wasn’t as substantial as I’d hoped. Felt almost like a standard microwave curry without the rice.

Levi Roots Jamaican Coconut Chicken Curry with rice and peas

Published on June 28th, 2013 Levi Roots

The sauce has a peculiar yoghurt taste. Very very mild… quite bland. I found only 2 pieces of mango and a single piece of avocado, so it’s not exactly packed with flavoursome ingredients. The chicken didn’t taste right- I felt like I had poor cuts of meat. That said, the quantity is quite generous. Even… [Read More]

Morrisons Chicken Biryani

Published on June 14th, 2013

£3.29 is at the high end of the ready meals market. I love the presentation of the food and the clear use of fresh ingredients. The fact that this is one of your five a day comes as a pleasant surprise. The plentiful quantities of chicken is gorgeous- a nice tandoori flavour with a smoky,… [Read More]

Iceland Sri Lankan Chicken

Published on May 1st, 2013

This can’t quite decide if it wants to be a korma or a curry. I think the korma wins the battle on this one- it has that classic creaminess and turmeric induced colour. However, there is a hint of chilli and- dare I say it- other flavours that I’ve begun to associate with tacky, mass… [Read More]

Morrisons Malaysian Chicken Curry with Jasmine Rice

Published on April 26th, 2013

Gorgeous aromatic spices permeate the entire meal. Really, really tasty. I love the fresh coriander garnished on the top. The chicken is tender and succulent, although there isn’t quite enough of it. The jasmine rice is as sticky and gorgeous as promised. A delicate combination of flavours that comes together beautifully. It’s just a shame… [Read More]

Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Chicken with Butternut Squash Rice

Published on April 24th, 2013 Levi Roots

A garlicy, sweet, almost BBQ flavour sauce with crisp carrots, with generous pieces of chicken and sweet red onion. The flavours are subtle and the sauce isn’t too oily. The rice is nothing special – it tastes like own-brand instant rice, only with some flavourless cubes of vegetable in it. It’s a nice meal, but… [Read More]

Tesco Value Chicken Curry with Vegetables

Published on March 31st, 2013

Not a good curry. Very much like a chip shop curry. Barely any chicken. Doesn’t taste BAD. Nice and cheap, filling.

Iceland Lamb Biryani

Published on March 23rd, 2013

Has some odd, unidentifiable bits that look like stuffing. Hardly any lamb, but ultimately quite tasty. More of a rice dish, very dry, not a main course as such. Feels like you should have a curry with it. The peas make it a little more colourful and lively. Nice hint of chilli. This review comes… [Read More]

Iceland Lamb Balti with Pilau Rice

Published on March 16th, 2013

A gorgeous, rich taste of lamb permeates throughout the whole sauce. This is a little on the spicy side for a balti. Although the cooking process is a little bit of a faff, the rice does end up wonderfully fluffy and light. The lamb is delicious and tender and there is plenty of it. The… [Read More]

Chef Select Chicken Tikka Masala

Published on March 1st, 2013

Nice and creamy sauce but a little lacking in spice. It’s also slightly on the watery side. However, the sight of fresh almonds in the sauce was very welcome, as was the bay leaf in the rice. This meal uses real ingredients, as opposed to the genetically modified, artificial food of the anti-Christ that we… [Read More]
