Batchelors Pasta ‘n’ Sauce Tomato Basil & Mascarpone

In the interests of a good review, I followed the instructions to a T. Oven hob, measured quantity of milk, heat through for specified time, serve.

A faff, and more washing up than I’d like, all for… crunchy pasta. And boy, is there a lot of it!

Take a look at the last couple of pictures – the pasta continued to absorb the moisture even after sitting to stand for a while. I think the instructions need to say to wait a little longer before serving.

Worth saying that this smells great while it cooks, you can feeeeel the mascarpone, and that’s pretty impressive from a dried old packet.

But the final result is a bit like a creamy tomato soup with croutons that stick in the teeth – and the milk sort of curdles in an unpleasant way.

Probably wouldn’t have again.
