The sauce has a peculiar yoghurt taste. Very very mild… quite bland. I found only 2 pieces of mango and a single piece of avocado, so it’s not exactly packed with flavoursome ingredients. The chicken didn’t taste right- I felt like I had poor cuts of meat. That said, the quantity is quite generous. Even… [Read More]
Chilled food reviews
The piri piri sauce has a really nice flavour- a sort of sweet, Jamaican style spicy sauce that isn’t anywhere near as tomatoey as it appears. It’s similar to a BBQ sauce, but not as sweet or artificial tasting. Plenty of green chillies garnish the potato wedges and make this a hot and quite difficult… [Read More]
Wow, these sausages are bready. I dread to think how much meat is in them. The mash is sticky and flavourless. There is hardly any gravy, so this part was hard to review, but it has a nice onion flavour. Finally, the portion size is tiny- this is no more than a snack for adults,… [Read More]
£3.29 is at the high end of the ready meals market. I love the presentation of the food and the clear use of fresh ingredients. The fact that this is one of your five a day comes as a pleasant surprise. The plentiful quantities of chicken is gorgeous- a nice tandoori flavour with a smoky,… [Read More]
The whole dish is very dry. Thoughtless use of cabbage, which is tough and chewy and does not compliment the meal well. There is a fair quantity of chicken, and the rich, nutty sauce is tasty, even if it mostly evaporates during the cooking process. Expensive for what you get.
A surprisingly tomato-y sauce. The beans are too tough, and, coming from a coriander fan, the coriander seems an almost incongruous thing to be added to the meal. Generous quantity of pork. Something a bit different to the masses of chicken tikka massalla and sweet and sour chicken.
Very tasty, and for the first time ever, a ready meal soup with REAL CHICKEN. With pieces that are bigger than a housefly, for a change! £1.99 – RRP. £1 reduced Lovely coconut and peanut flavour without being too rich. Quite a thin soup, with a few bits of veg and some individual grains of… [Read More]
This can’t quite decide if it wants to be a korma or a curry. I think the korma wins the battle on this one- it has that classic creaminess and turmeric induced colour. However, there is a hint of chilli and- dare I say it- other flavours that I’ve begun to associate with tacky, mass… [Read More]
Gorgeous aromatic spices permeate the entire meal. Really, really tasty. I love the fresh coriander garnished on the top. The chicken is tender and succulent, although there isn’t quite enough of it. The jasmine rice is as sticky and gorgeous as promised. A delicate combination of flavours that comes together beautifully. It’s just a shame… [Read More]
A garlicy, sweet, almost BBQ flavour sauce with crisp carrots, with generous pieces of chicken and sweet red onion. The flavours are subtle and the sauce isn’t too oily. The rice is nothing special – it tastes like own-brand instant rice, only with some flavourless cubes of vegetable in it. It’s a nice meal, but… [Read More]
