SPAM Chip Shop Curry Fritters

Published on October 26th, 2023

It’s been a while since my last review. No longer a student, I tend not to do ready meals anymore, and my arteries probably couldn’t take it like they used to. But just occasionally, I come across something in my weekly shop that makes me go… “yeah”. This is one of those items. SPAM, deep… [Read More]

aah! Bisto Classic Bangers & Mash

Published on September 30th, 2022 ahh! Bisto

aah! BISTO… the most annoyingly spelled brand name in culinary history. It’s famous for its gravy, which as you’d hope, is top notch here. It’s a shame then that everything else is distinctly underwhelming. The mash is disappointingly bland, and the peas were a bit hard. The sausages are weird and chewy, though have that… [Read More]

Rustlers Sausage Muffin

Published on May 1st, 2021

Delicious! Muffin is nicely chewy, holds up well after being in the microwave. Sausage patty is nicely fatty and the cheese comfortably covers the whole surface area. Easy prep – 65 seconds in the microwave, job done!

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Beef Hash

Published on August 31st, 2019 Sainsbury's Taste the Difference

Tasty, good chunks of beef, nice crunch on the potatoes, polenta makes the gravy nice and thick. Generous portion for one. Only has an oven cook option, and definitely not healthy, but good comfort food. A slow-cook, indulgent treat.

Tesco Finest Cottage Pie

Published on June 22nd, 2019

I may be the only person in the world who had this with charred broccoli and ranch dressing. It was a winning combo though. I apologise for the particularly bad second picture, which may have been somewhat distorted by the beer or two I’d had beforehand. It tasted better than my photography would suggest. A… [Read More]

ASDA Toad in the Hole

Published on April 27th, 2019

Sausages are bland, bready and tasteless. The batter is a bit crunchy on top and doughy underneath. Disappointing.

ASDA Hunters Chicken with Potato Wedges

Published on April 6th, 2019

I was so looking forward to this, when to my great disappointment I realised it does not come with microwave instructions. You have to oven bake it. Damn you, pesky wedges! Fine. I conceded to the packaging and followed the instructions like a schmuck: I removed the wedges and set them next to the chicken-in-plastic… [Read More]

Ginsters Pulled Pork Slice

Published on July 15th, 2018

This pasty is filled with BBQ flavour pork, which is delicious and succulent. Plenty of filling for my £1. Recommended oven bake, but microwave was ok – bit soggy.

Weight Watchers Lincolnshire Sausage & Root Vegetable Mash

Published on March 16th, 2018

Seriously impressive that this is under 300 calories. Portion size looks about the same as any microwave meal and it looks pretty tasty! The root vegetable mash is pretty good and the sausages have a nice processed texture to them, and the ingredients look good. But man alive, this gravy is watery and flavourless. Such… [Read More]

Sainsbury’s Bacon Brunch

Published on February 24th, 2014

Potato doesn’t brown like the picture suggests. The bacon pieces are few and far between, and when you actually fork a piece, turn out to have a spammy taste. The potato is bland and uninteresting, given little flavour by the butter that smothers it. Filling, but not fabulous value for money. As already mentioned, bacon… [Read More]
